North West England Regional Thread

We've had lots of requests for a split in the north of England regional thread, so here's an attempt at following that feedback.

I'm so helpful I did a map.

It would seem that the first line of showers/precip ahead of the main band is of sleet or snow, and is not causing too much disruption to temps/dp's.

However the main band behind it is causing a lot of disruption to temps & dp's. There is milder air tied in with it, and as a result, the temperature is beginning to sore upwards.

I think the main event is reserved for the highest ground. I'd be surprised if anyone got much out of the main band.

The NW thread timed well with the first falling snow of the winter here. Just come back from town ctr (o/m) and a bitterly cold wind with light snow falling from about 12:30pm - it' stopped now but it's only the light precipitation at present, good signs for when the heavier stuff peps up this afternoon. Temps 2c though so it might be a bit sleety at low levels. Metrolink ToT (Tram on Test) between mumps and derker so they picked a nice day for it lol

If the front slows allowing the colder air to undercut it then a good chance of a ice-rain event across Lancs & Cheshire aside from the heightened risk of further snow across the Pennine tops. Beeb going for snow showers behind this lot of rain in the NWly airflow so I wouldn't scrap out potential just yet.

I think if the front slowed much more than the pace it's already moving at, it might as well just reverse back out into the Atlantic.

I don't want an icy rain event anyhow, it's dangerous, and not fun!

Just tried to post in the previous regional thread only to be told that it was locked.

Now I find we have a regional regional one instead.

still snowing here although only light now.

Got a grand total of about 1 inch so far on grass and pavements with the main roads clear.

The radar is showing plenty more in the Irish Sea but whether we're just the wrong side of marginal for that only time will tell.

While it lasted it looked good though with plenty of blowing snow, always my favourite type to watch.

Dewpoints are now well above freezing.

The stuff you are seeing is this mythical thing called rain. We in the west never get any of this 'rain'. Odd.
