I see Carribean Princess of Princess Cruises is currently in port at Boston, from it's webcam the weather looks pretty bad. I guess they'll be riding it out in port.

Pressure now down from 943mb's to 940mb's. Storm has also sped up, and could make landfall as early as 8PM our time.

Love your posts Sainsbos and so I hope you join on the central southern england regional thread when the white stuff in Uk is imminent.

Back on track though I did think is 8pm originally....damn I am out watching skyfall tonight...Ill be back at 10 to pick up when has been happening.. latest recon

Haha, thanks for the compliment, and will do (:

On topic: Low tide has just passed in most places from New Jersey up to NY, so waters could start rising very quickly anytime between now and 9PM EST (1AM our time)

Thanks for that info Sainsbo, I didn't realise they were still around low tide as the tide hardly seems to have dropped in some places. This looks to be very bad for coastal and river areas.

I really hope this area is well past low tide otherwise they are going to be in big trouble. Just look at those waves on the video!! Posted Image

What is the estimated time for landfall and the very strongest winds? The link posted a above by weathermaster to current wind speeds will come in very useful.

Is the Captain mad???

The telegraph webcam still going. Wind seems to changed direction from earlier so it's blowing along the Beach. I wonder how long it will last.

I have no idea the PIT, but it makes you think he is - and it is one of those top heavy passenger ships....all other boats seem to be in ....well unless the marine traffic website is telling us a huge lie....wonder if there is a twitter feed for it....may get some info from the passengers? .......

sorry of this is slightly off topic but it seems Explorer of the Sea went out in Irene too, most people felt very ill on board

not sure tbh, the switch away from tropical core is the trigger to slow the system right down, i've seen many estimates that at current speed it will hit land in x hrs, but i don't think it will travel at current speed.....

According to meteorologists on local news channels over in the states, landfall is expected sooner than previously forecast, at roughly 9-10pm UK time.

Ive just seen a father Christmas just running around NY, bonkers comes to mind. Also the crane is perfectly safe so they say. I know the system is flipping huge but OMG The USA really know how to hype up the situation. IT is not expected to come in when the tides are high. seen worse at woolacombe. looking at the crane again have to say it looks scary would cause a huge mess if it came down..
