Have a look at the forecast: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/yh/leeds_forecast_weather.html

I think this rain band will pivot around and will continue for a long time here.

Well according to the radar it should soon stop here soon. Now sat nicely at 50mm since midnight. Need another 5.5mm to make the child nadine climb into the wettest 24 hour list.

The already saturated ground is causing big run off from fields etc making some roads look like small rivers, the rain band seems to be pivoting over Northern England - The rains here to stay, bad news.

It's been raining heavily here since yesterday evening and it looks set to continue for most of tomorrow.

I can't remember the last time it rained non-stop for so long.

I was in barmouth earlier and it was dry andy. So i think aberystwyth should be ok. In saying that the weather here in nw wales is bad but the rain has gone a bit lighter . Wonder how much more rain is forecasted for here as the rivers are really high.

the revolving front is coming back into Wales and seems to be pivoting around aberystwyth - reason why aber got hit last time cause a front just sat over it for hours on end - there is a danger of a repeat performance from what I can see - + it's already had loads of rain as the front moved through initially - we'll see anyway!

It's been chucking it down heavily all afternoon though not so heavy just now.

Temp 11.0C.

Wind dropped just at present.

The radar images are interesting. Rain moving like a clock finger.anti-clockwise, with us in the middle.

A plague of mice coming indoors. They say they can't stand it out there any more.

During the big flood that bristol and mendip area had back in 1968 ,i was working in bedminster ,where we had nearly 5ft of flood water in our shop . on this occasion the floods were caused by a thundery low which stationed itself over our area in june . RATS were EVERYWHERE ,3/4 DAYS LATER THEYwere feeding on plenty of rotting meat and food produce . anyhow looks like more hvy rain on the way for the west country and south later tomorrow . stay safe further north ,cheers

No wind for the NW then by the looks of the xc weather wind map

The centre of the low is going to be right over Northern England, so the strongest winds will be either side to the north and south.

I'd rather have the wind than the rain to be honest. The ground badly needs to dry out.

At this time the pivot does seem to hit Aber, but all will depend if centre of low continues North.

If it does as forecast it will soon drift South slightly and west, that will push the percipiation further south into Wales, still effecting mid and North Wales, but if it did continue North we would be in a more showery condition

Torrential rain, 70mph winds and flood warnings as gales hit Britain

Britain was braced for torrential rain, storms and widespread flooding today as hundreds of people prepared to evacuate their homes.

The Met Office predicted severe gale force winds up to 70mph, heavy rain and floods across much of Britain, as blustery autumn weather blows in. The Environment Agency has issued more than 150 flood alerts and warnings, with “immediate action required†throughout the South West, Midlands and North East of England, and hundreds bracing themselves to evacuate their homes.

The latest forecast will dash hopes for a sunny end to September, with another three inches of rain expected in the north overnight, and wet and windy conditions expected until the middle of the week. The extreme weather conditions have already caused chaos on the roads and in homes, with the fire service working to pump water from houses in Somerset.

An elderly couple in Portsmouth, Hampshire, were forced to take refuge after the roof of their terraced home collapsed under torrential rain. An 86-year old man and a 73-year old woman were asleep when the fire wall connecting their roof and attic gave way, causing the ceiling to fall in. Yesterday, a 30-year-old woman was killed by a falling tree branch in high winds in Kew Gardens, London.

A woman and a toddler also died and a 30-year-old man was left in a serious condition after their car left the road and crashed into a tree just after 7.30am in Crimplesham, Norfolk. The Met Office has today issued severe “amber†weather warnings in the South West, South East, West Midlands, Yorkshire and Humber, North West, and North East of England. Northern Ireland, Wales and the south of Scotland will also suffer under the extreme conditions, with just the northernmost tip of Scotland escaping.

Forecasters predict “prolonged period of heavy rainâ€, with heavy winds increasing to gale force, particularly over high grounds. “Torrential rain†is expected in the west country, with disruption expected on the roads and travel networks. Met Office forecaster Charlie Powell said the heavy rain was likely to ease off to lighter showers, with the unsettled weather continuing until the mid week. By Wednesday night, he said, the majority of Britain should enjoy drier conditions with the latter part of the week showing a more settled picture.

The Environment Agency issued 135 flood alerts, meaning flooding is "possible" in areas of the Midlands, North East and South West of England, with 23 more serious warnings.

Today, National Rail have reported delays up to an hour on train journeys in South West England and Wales, caused by heavy rain and flooding. Some services have been halted completely by water levels, with replacement buses between Exeter and Taunton and no trains from Severn Tunnel Junction to Bristol, and Brisol to Taunton. Similar delays of up to an hour were reported at Rhyl due to flooding. A First Great Western spokesman said: "Due to overnight flooding in the West of England, various routes are experiencing severe disruption to service. "Customers are advised not to travel unless necessary and, if so, expect major delays. "Road replacement transport is very limited as roads are suffering from the same weather conditions."

Police across the country urged caution for road users. An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "We are warning motorists to take particular care as they travel today following heavy rainfall in the area. "There have been reports of spray and surface water across Avon and Somerset. Please allow extra time for your journey and consider if you really need to travel this morning. "If you do, motorists are reminded to avoid going through deep water - a small number of motorists have already become stranded in their vehicles."

LLC now in-situ across North Wales from what the pressure charts and NW RADAR is telling me, the next 12 hours will be crucial in finding out just how much precip this band dumps across the UK with areas from Cumbria down to Derby expecting the worst as the LLC pivots and begins tracking southwest.

Is there a tiny chance of any wind as the low shifts ??

Looks like the winds will pick up later tonight for your area as the low centre deepens and drifts west towards the Irish Sea.
