Wiltshire has got away lightly so far with 'only' 20mm in my gauge from yesterday and through the night which I emptied half an hour ago. It's now

raining heavily as the system pivots around in its' gradual NE movement.

The more tropical air has clearly arrived overnight with it being 13.3c now after not getting above 10.4c all day yesterday and it had dropped to

9.6c at 22.00 last night.

Some good ol' classic heavy rain over Poole, has tipped the "today" rainfall over 33.1mm.

Pressure is now rising after reaching a minimum of 983.9mb so this is definately moving away from us now.

Been raining heavily all night here, although its not causing to many problems so far.

I hear there is flooding in Somerset however.

It's amazing how quickly the pressure has fallen, it was 1002.0 mb at midnight and is now 991.8 mb and falling rapidly.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
