Well, if it's any consolation; I'm utterly pants at taking photos (Mrs SS can be called to testify) but know all about resizing them. smile.png

But get those pics up in their full glory - crackin.

Lashin doon, 8.1 C.

Morn's 00Z GFS ensembles. Slightly milder then back to general chilliness with some short, milder blips, but nae uber cauld on the immediate horizon.

Blustery, mild and a bit rainy here in suburban South Embra...

Oddly it feels more like late September or October than November, whereas the last few days of still air and chill sunshine felt very November-y!

Still knitting away in hope... :) (where's the Knitting Optimistically In Hopes Of Lots Of Snow emoticon, eh?)

Good afternoon all!

Currently train bound for the English capital. Weather has been grey muck the whole way (by York I think at the mo - when did they get a London eye thingy??).

Anything exciting in the charts?

06Z was interesting towards the end of the run, i.e. FI in that it was zonal but of the chilly hill snow variety. Quite a few colder members in the ensembles.

t850Midlothian.png

Height rises over Scandinavia still the theme, although lots of uncertainty as usual into FI.

Not directly weather related, but came across this and found it quite cool for some reason.

A dreich day here with spots of rain ,ploughing continuing, new fence started to be erected, and another one of the last calves born. Not cold tonight at 7c so calf will get a good start. Lots of good Holly ripening so will get some in about 10 days for Xmas before the birds consume it and keep cool and damp in a shed.

Wind really got up this evening, much milder and driech. Could be like this for a wee while at least.

Better this weather now and the building blocks getting put in place (or in the case of the Polar Vortex, not getting put in place :good: ) than this type of weather through January and February. Having said that, polar maritime air in winter can do the trick too.

Mild and dreich here too, after a blowy night.

Bit of a fab sunset on Monday night in suburban south Embra!

Nice pic, it was a cracking sunset down here too, glad someone else enjoyed it as much as I did at the time. It was a nice wee boost to see that at work.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 21 Nov 2012 to Wednesday 5 Dec 2012:

As is usual, there are uncertainties in the forecast for this period, but there are signs that the changeable conditions will continue through the start of this forecast period. Rainfall amounts are more likely to be above the seasonal average rather than below, especially across England and Wales. There is also a signal for temperatures to be close to or just below the seasonal average. Towards the latter part of the period, there are some suggestions that conditions will turn drier with more in the way of sunshine, but also colder, with temperatures well below the seasonal average. This will give a greater risk of overnight frosts.

EDIT.

For What it's worth...

UK Outlook for Monday 12 Nov 2012 to Wednesday 21 Nov 2012:

Rain in the west is expected to spread to all parts through Monday, accompanied by strengthening winds and with snow possible across northern hills for a time. This should clear from the northwest during Tuesday, with clearer, but showery conditions following. However more persistent rain may linger in the southeast through the day. Remaining largely unsettled through the remainder of the period with showers or longer spells of rain and often windy, but also with some drier interludes. The heaviest rain is likely to be across the north and west, although southern and southeast England may also see heavy and persistent rain at times. Temperatures largely near or just below average, with the risk of hill snow in the north, and frost and icy patches possible in northwestern areas overnight.

Utter pish windy grey dreich day. Few clear bits at dusk followed by torrential rain.

Damp, blowy, bits and bobs of sun. Typical autumn's day down here. I see the model thread is in full pantomime season, "winter's over...oh no it isn't...oh yes it is".

Some great pix the last couple of days... rofl.gif

Been oop north in the wet n windy parts, no real fun to be had there just now. It looked like I missed the good stuff (a couple of very near ice days) last week. This evening the car reckoned 13C coming down through the rain - where's the sweat beads on forehead emoticon?

Another nice dry bright day. Currently 9c. Been in the garden digging these last few afternoons as ground is less wet and is therefore lighter. Cows and calves are liking it too outside. They are on full winter ratons now.Starting to bed up the folds ready to take them at any hint of bad weather and certainly around the 20th of November.
