Anyone Seen Any Moths?

Made the mistake last night of leaving a light on in the bedroom for a while with the window wide open. Came back in to find lots of tiny flies and a few crane flies flitting about but no moths. I don't think I've seen any this year.

I remember being younger back in the 80s/90s, if you left the window open with a light on, the room would be full of moths in no time. I've seen a few bats around this summer so there must be some around for them to feed on. Anyone else noticed the massive reduction in the population?

The tiny flies are corn flies, had lot's here. Plenty of moths and bats about also for the time of year, so nothing unusual in my neck of the woods....

There have been a few around here (especially day-flying moths) as well as a fair few more insects now, after the disastrous spring and the main part of summer. It was very bad for a whole lot of wildlife but even then, there will be winners. For example, next spring should see resurgence in Cinnabar Moths, due to the increase and late blooming of whole rafts of Ragwort, their main food plant.

I have seen loads of moths around here, esp at night they tend to be bouncing off my bedroom window, i guess trying to get to the light! Have had many moths in the house aswell from when i've left the window open and several crane flies! No shortage of them around here!

Plenty of bats around too in the evenings.

Gozillions of the damn things.

But worse than that mosquito's by the barrel full.

I spend 20-30 mins each night trying to kill them all before I got to bed. Sitting in a room with light on I can see the mossies trying to get in....

Good to hear they're still around everywhere else. Have to say i'm not missing the random, erratic flying patterns, very annoying!

Plenty of moths here on the last few weeks. Especially at night!
