Is there a danger we may see sun and sandals rather than wetness and wellies for Bestival this year? It would make a nice change to have dry people at a gig on the IoW in 2012:

BESTIVAL WEATHER: UNBROKEN SUNSHINE FORECAST THIS WEEKEND

Festival goers advised to pack the suncream

After a summer of washout festival events, this weekend's Bestival is set for a weekend of unbroken sunshine.

Early in the festival season, the Isle Of Wight Festival was threatened when torrential rain hit the island and only last month Creamfields was cancelled after campsites were submerged in downpours. Bestival however, is set for some of the best weather of 2012.

Sun and clear skies are predicted Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the festival, with temperatures set to soar to 27 degrees on Sunday as the summer returns for one last blast. Festival nights are set to be warm as well, with temperatures of 17-18 degrees predicted.

This year's festival boasts headline performances from Florence + The Machine, Stevie Wonder and New Order, while bands including sigur Ros and The xx will perform their only UK festival show at the event, which is curated by Rob da Bank.

The event has a reputation for being one of the summer's biggest parties, but often struggles in September with the weather, with rain often seen at the event.

Saving the Bestival 'til last at final music festival of the summer

After a summer of Olympic fever and royal festivities, let us not forget the other great British summer activity, the music festival.

If you have missed out on any of this year's festival action, then the final large-scale UK music event is just around the corner. Bestival returns for its ninth year from the 6th-9th September, at Robin Hill County Park on the Isle of Wight. With sunshine forecast and an incredible line-up, it's set to be the best year to date.

Bestival 2012 predicted to be dry and sunny for most of the weekend

Good news for festival-goers heading to Bestival - the music bash is tipped to be a dry and sunny affair with rain arriving only on Monday when everyone will be leaving.

After a decidedly ‘mixed’ summer weather-wise, there have been few outdoor festivals which have been lucky enough to remain wholly dry, and for some (Download, Isle of Wight, T in the Park) the story was a very, very muddy one. So it’s with great delight that we can report that all meteorological signs are looking positive for this weekend’s festivities down at Robin Hill Country Park.

The recent wave of high pressure that has been benefiting the country with dry, warm conditions will be firmly in place as the first wave of campers arrive on site on Thursday. With dry, sunny weather due to last throughout the day, temperatures will peak at 18 or 19 degrees, not too hot for the arduous task of lugging your tents about and setting up camp.

As the first day of the festival begins in earnest on Friday, dry and sunny conditions continue, with temperatures creeping even higher to about 22 degrees in the afternoon. A west-southwesterly breeze picks up, ensuring it never feels too hot in the sun. As Bestival’s Friday night headliner, Florence and the Machine take to the main stage, temperatures will drop to a pleasant 16 degrees and hover around this mark for the rest of the night.

After a misty start to Saturday morning, the clouds will again clear and another gloriously sunny, dry day is forecast, with similar temperatures to Friday and a light south-south-easterly breeze.

The final day of the festival is another dry and sunny one, although in the afternoon a brisk southwesterly breeze will make it feel slightly cooler.

It looks like more unsettled conditions are on their way next week and the first of the rain showers look likely to appear on Monday as festival-goers depart from the Bestival site.

All in all, it looks like the idyllic, sunny weather we all dream of could finally shine down upon one of the final festivals of 2012. Better late than never eh?
