Alternative versions (according to varied online sources), summer 2012 was a "disastrous season for the wildlife" and as we humans have to deal with what nature throws at us, perhaps we should try to get used to our changed climate.

My more polite version would read "could have had more Thunderstorms" or "better luck in summer 2013"
