Here's pic of a funnel cloud near Bristol Airport I took this evening at around 7pm.

Cool! Nice to know the clouds around Bristol aren't all that boring after all.

Nice Pic!

Nice work. Ian Ferguson also mentioned tonight a tornado in portishead today. Was in the channel I think he said.

Hello, my first post here!

I live in Portishead with a view into the Bristol channel - and I can't believe I missed a tornado! The thundery weather last Saturday looked good for generating something of interest, I spent a lot of the day keeping my eye out but saw nothing more than an impressive lightning display.

I did manage to glimpse today's funnel cloud, I've got some footage taken from my iPhone as I was heading westward past the M32 junction. It was pretty distant though. As soon as I learn how to upload video I will post it on youtube.

Funnily enough, I also caught the funnel cloud that was spotted near Cribbs Causeway last year (and got some video of it just as it was fading). That was a bit earlier on my commute back - around 5.45pm IIRC - so I'm finding it hard to believe my luck; right place, right time!

Hello and welcome to the fun and games! Would be good to see your video of the funnel cloud. Maybe you should set up your own funnel chasing tours. lol.

I managed to find what Ian Ferguson mentioned on Points West last night. However he did say it was a Tornado but obviously it is a funnel.

Look at the older image too. 2 funnels in Portishead!

Seems like there were three over Weston?

A bit too difficult for me to see though....

I'm struggling to get yesterday's funnel video off my phone. It's hardly great anyway as I saw the funnel from probably 10+ miles away and by the time I arrived in Bristol it had dispersed.

Here's the one I caught last year. It had faded somewhat by the time I was able to stop and start shooting, but you can still see the basic shape:

Some more pictures of yesterday's events here:

(not sure why the link says 'Leeds' when it is North Somerset ...)
