Its a real shame that no one has posted in this thread yet and a even bigger shame that the BBC feel text updates are adaquate for the opening ceremony. A little bit different from their see everything from every angle attitude towards the Olympics :(

That's because it's live on Channel 4 who have the tv rights for the Paralympics!!

However I sincerely hope they are sensible with advert breaks!

Exactly CH4 the dusbin channel and I cannot even get the tv player to open so I guess they have not provided anything more then budget bandwidth?

I think these guys are the real heros of sport and unlike their abled bodied counterparts are not earning a bean for this.

They aren't being. The parade of the athletes and they cut to a ruddy advert.

I'm not liking channel 4's coverage here, there are many nationalities in this country and they cut for adverts when they are coming out, surely they can relax the adverts for 3 hours and just let us watch uncut footage from this.

I am here at the ceromony. Very good atmosphere loving it so far.

Great. Good to read something positive because I think it's pretty good from what I've seen. Sure the adverts are annoying but no more than the people on here who find any excuse for a whinge. It's not about bloody channel 4 it's about the athletes and the deeper reasons.

Channel 4 doesn't have a live player, does it, so I'm not surprised that you're having difficulty with it (unless they've introduced one specially) Having said that, the adverts are very annoying.

So if it's about the athletes, why play adverts when they are coming out?

They appear to but I can't get it to work? http://paralympics.c...ideo/index.html

Thanks for the link. It now appears to be working as a catchup service, but after the 3rd advert I gave up! Bah! I got drawn into watching the last part of the opening ceremony. Apart from the "Ian Dury" section that was open to misinterpretaton by anyone not aware of the history of "Spasticus electricus", I much preferred it to the Olympics opening ceremony - particularly the umbrella theme!

Oops, just seen the instruction to stick to the sport. Will do tomorrow once the sport starts.

We talk about these Paralympic Games as world-class events, and Sarah Storey, the Mancunian paracyclist, made the point at the velodrome this morning when she smashed a world record – her own world record – in a time that would beat most Olympians.

Storey was going in the heats of the C5 individual pursuit and her time qualified her for the gold medal race this afternoon against Anna Harkowska, of Poland. She is a shoo in for the gold,

First time I've watched wheelchair basketball when Germany have just pipped GB in extra time. Deeply impressed. Also earlier in the day the great paralympian Lee Pearson and his horse Gentleman were great in the team dressage. Even though Gentleman decided apparently to have one of his skittish days.

Pearson and Gentlemen won three gold medals in 2008,
