My eyes are on tomorrow. The Met Office mention slow moving thundery downpours for many areas so although it'll likely be another 'hit or miss' day, it'll at least be interesting watching developments on radar.

I expect that rain in the south to intensify as it moves across land.

It's currently weakening across The Channel but it is heading in the right direction. Nothing sferic though at the moment.

And what were you saying Coast, nature is fooling us once again blum.gif and it does now appear to be pepping up once again. I must say since my previous post, I was starting to get downbeat but alas, there is something electrical out there. Sferics on the back edge of the highlighted clump due Southeast of Salcombe over the channel. It is still very much touch and go though.

Occluded front over SE England by 18z with some CB's possible as it moves in according to latest SatRep interpretation:

My question is what will develop this afternoon/evening around the second, surface-based occlusion as that is what is heading towards me.

Snap!! See my post above yours as it seems there may be something on the way! good.gif

Yes I saw yours, it was why I edited mine as I thought I had got it quite wrong in my interpretation of the radar picture having seen yours. I'll re-post what I thought here and leave it for examination.

I'm very interested in the CAPE and wraparound coming to my back yard tomorrow.

Light rain and thats all. Has now stopped actually.

Attached chart looks good for the early part of tomorrow afternoon in this area. Would be nice to see some lightning after missing the last 2 weeks weather here.

Nothing really exciting here to be honest

There's always the Quay Inn with a cool pint while you watch the kids throw themselves off the bridge into the river on a Friday night! laugh.png

haha - you know this place well!

It's only a 2 minute walk for me, so i'll be there tonight. :D

Rain has turned 'thundery' now, large convective drops that make bubbles in the puddles.

I've turned my lightning detector on, but nothing as of yet. :)

Anyone ever stormchased with a 14 month old baby? I'm seriously tempted tomorrow but I'm not sure she is up to the job of operating the NW radar on the iphone and taking photos out the window?

That blob out in the channel looks better by the minute, liking the covection and sferics showing behind and below the front.

ELT's are progged to be around -30 to -40 tomorrow, so good for hail, and of course lightning.

I just have this feeling that coastal areas west of the Isle of Wight will miss out. I think chances will be better a good 20 miles inland. Certainly going to be windy though.

I always use NW extra radar and a lightning detector, but it must be worth a go AH..........

Hopefully I can target something fairly local and nip out to intercept if the timing's right. Not fair on the little'un to drag her out for miles and miles!

She hasn't passed her driving test yet then?

No, it's rubbish! There's loads of stuff she can't do, washing up, cooking, hoovering, changing tyres, juggling. The list is endless!

If you want something chewed, dribbled on or generally soiled in some way though....

Back on topic and still looks lively across the channel, hopefully things can intensify a little after dark as per forecast. Wondering if fish and chips by the seaside tonight is a good idea or just a potential washout?
