At the moment its quiet here on west mendip .we had a few spots about 20 min ago . we seem to be in the usual breading ground , i have seen a couple of cells develope in a short space of time then move away east . i think the best chance for us and say bristol will come after 1pm ish . a slight breeze at 9am this morning as now gone flat calm which might help the situation ,certainly good synoptics for many today ,so some happy posters about later . a couple of good looking beefy tops now showing out over bristol channel and exmoor way .all enjoy sundays calm , then Full frontal job on monday ,and the possibility of some action again next wed /thurs ,beyond that it does look like high pressure kicks in but a long way off ,ps those cells are building nicely here .drinks.gif

Some lovely convection round here. Warm when the sun is out. Really hopeful today.

Cloud tops getting up and going here now. Nightly feeling that the best of the action could be to the east of me though!

Some decent showers are getting going around Sheffield currently (maybe Dronfield way). The thick cloud and fog here is thinning and some hazy sunshine breaking through.

Just drizzly murk here in the far SE, Sat shows some gaps in the cloud further west so hopefully we can shift this rubbish and get some convection later.

Edit sun just broken through now! C'mon storms!!

Some amazing convection here. Light hail showers on and off at the moment. Dark skies to my SW and a bright blue sky with cauliflower towers to WNW.smile.png

A lot of sferics in that storm near to North Wales/Cheshire border. One or two sferics about 10-15 miles to my west and lots more elsewhere. Its starting :)

Getting sferics from the cells over W Norfolk I think, theres certainly a few cracks on the radio. Now is the time it all starts kicking off!!

Wow, There are some awesome looking anvils about. You can watch them change from a normal Cu to Cb within 20 minutes.

Some VERY black cloudbases. Looks wonderful.

If we dont get a storm today then we might as well just give up forever

Looks like sferics will be limited, at this time, to just within the 40C theta-e boundary. Still expecting local surprises, though, especially where the local lie of the land gives an extra kick.

Tip of the day - I think Lincolnshire/S Yorkshire will get the best action, but, still, I think that anyone in England, virtually, has a chance of a thunderstorm. There's interest in Dorset, too.

Happy Hunting,
