Teeming down here, looks like a thundery night sky but nothing in the way of thunder and lightning yet. I see things are getting going over the west midlands as well as Anglesey (whilst the all day North Sea storm rumbles on), could be an interesting night for some perhaps.

lol of course!!!!! A fitting birthday gift for our resident forum god!

Lovely night-time T&L here in Solihull, first I can remember for quite a while. Where on earth did this come from?

Good to hear about thunder in Birmingham. Looks like that's heading directly for me on radar.

Can't remember the last time I had a good chance of night time lightning, feels like a long time.

Camera will be ready but am I right in assuming that most of the lightning tonight will be IC rather than CG?

Has the Solihull one stopped already? From here I saw a few flashes, the light dimming and thought I heard one roll of thunder some minutes ago, but seems to have quietened since then?

Chaps, I 've just seen 3 flashes of lightning to my NE, looks like the cell nr Abbots Bromley moving towards Uttoxeter. No thunder heard as it's too far away (at least 15 miles) but it did give an absolute deluge here around 30 mins ago...Anyhoos, a nice little late birthday treat, and judging by some of your posts to my SW (where showers are coming from) it may not be over yet! biggrin.png

If NMM is right then Mid Level Cape is increasing or prevalent for some hours yet so lots of convective potential then lots going tomorrow with here looking very much in the firing line. smile.png

No recent flashes here btw.

Happy birthday AJ.

I wonder if any of the action can get as far north as here. Tomorrow, if it hasn't arrived overnight I shall be taking my kids for a trip out to Lincolnshire.

It looks like the sferics have died as quick as they came, still plenty of time left tonight before i turn, but not worried as there is tomorrows potential.

Very little to no sign of any convective potential here. Rain has in essence been light and sporadic. It has cleared northwards now, but I imagine for this part of the world storm chances are over for a while. Surprised to see some people with some good storms though!
