Today was chase day 1 and I picked a target of Wickenburg to Prescott for some Monsoon Storms over and near the Mogollan Rim, but we were made to work hard for the rewards with little or zero Cg action during the day on most of the Storms in Arizona. Just north of Wickenburg we intercepted our first storm of the day and it briefly looked like it wanted to put on quite a show displaying characteristics not uncommon for the Great Plains, no rotation was noted but the base of the storm was certainly low enough, and it had a decent enough wall cloud at times, a few sporadic Cg's were noted but nothing picture worthy, we then went north to intercept another cell, again this fell apart, so we headed back down to Phoenix for some grub and awaited a Shortwave Impulse that was lifted out of Southern California. Storms started to erupt and move East towards our base so we went West on Interstate 10 to take a look, Lightning was hard to come by as rains obscured the views, but we did get brief Cg barrages that allowed us to get some pics. We headed back to base again and this time the Storm of the day allowed us to core punch it through Central Phoenix before getting in front of it by about 2 miles before it slammed the hotel with strong winds and bears cage thunder, a great end to a hard day in the field.

Will only post a few pictures as others will want to put some up as well.

Stunning photos, especially the night-time lightning ones. With four expert storm photographers, we are going to to have a wealth of good photos to drawl (and get envy) over the coming days!
