these have been called altocumulus waves or similar, forming under cirrocumulus.

nice fan effect.

THANKS, Sprites. I was wondering whether they had a name. I think I have seen them before, but usually in the distance. it was quite stunning to see them right above me. you may notice I was beng dive bombed by a fly at the time.😳
