While western Europe misses out on the fun, the northern hemisphere has just recorded it's largest December snow cover area on record!

Does anyone have the link to post the snow and ice map for the NH? Hopefully, snow has come a bit closer to the UK, otherwise an Easterly, if it happens, may not deliver.

N.hemi 22/47 place +348K December 2010 4/46 +2454K

November 2011 Eurasia 5/47 place +2152k square km of mean snow cover December 2011 26/46 +23k

N.hemi 4/47 place +2715k December 2011 34/46 -546k!

November 2012 Eurasia 8/47 place +1697k square km of mean snow cover December 2012 ???????????

If this snow advance was compared to the World of tanks game the word would be 'attack!'

Latest look at the big picture and its a upgrade for the 3 to 6 day snowfall forecast Posted Image

Turkey shows how it's done, Italy improves and the ice makes a big jump towards iceland and wants to make a bridge to Japan.

Looking for upgrades for Spain Ireland Norway western France and Italy .....not to worried about the UK! Apart from that its one of the great years for snow covering of the northern hemisphere.

It doesnt look as if there will be too much extra snow cover in the next week over Europe.

Or am I reading it wrong?

It could turn out like that, for example http://www.yr.no/pla.../Rome/long.html http://www.yr.no/pla...aris/long.html

But Wales crossing into England has orange on it on the 3 to 6 day chart to keep things interesting closer to home post-15601-0-98922500-1357913680_thumb.j

Bearing in mind that sea ice touching Hokkaido is not uncommon.

Reading the charts the Japan sea ice looks normal, long may it continue given the lack of northern hemisphere ice recently.

Spain and North Africa should be covered in a few days .. and considering the big chunk of ice and hence snow missing to our north we must be approaching record levels of 'on - land ' snow but Ireland to stay GREEN lol

The orange on the snow charts for Wales has gone now but if Northern Ireland were to get a super heavy snowfall and the South less, that would look good!post-15601-0-81197900-1358033384_thumb.j 3 day expected
