Two things of note..

First, big increase in snowfall for the UK, especially Scotland

And second, ice is beginning to form in the Gulf of Bothnia.

Apparently Zagreb is getting a pasting at the moment. Should be a pixel or two more in Croatia

Must be good at clearing the snow http://www.skylinewebcams.com/webcam/hrvatska/grad-zagreb/zagreb/trg-bana-jelacica.html

Looks like the States and much of eastern Canada will stay snow free for at least another week

Here's a couple of charts to admire.

Here's a very informative post, courtesy of Phil n Warks from the MOD thread earlier today.

The above proves exactly why I always believed things would prove more beneficial, once the winds shifted around to a direct Northerly or Easterly component. Let us hope we can get there without too much strife.

May I enquire to ask were you get the snow and ice cover png's from please?

Thank you.

It snowed back home in Watford this morning but quickly melted away according to my mother, we didn't get anything here in Southampton but wind chills stayed below freezing all day.

Thank you gottolovethisweather! :)

Pretty interesting, the more snow in Europe the better really as it will keep it cooler then normal.

Huge snowfalls around continental Europe. Most central countries now completely covered, it's creeping our way!

That latest chart is darn impressive, has GP applied crayons to it, in order to match up to his winter forecast I wonder. Posted Image

Wow, that is some snow-cover in Europe now. Anything for us from the east would be frigid! Compare to the same day last year, massive difference!

Snow Advances into France and there is a lot of snow cover around.

But can't help but notice the best winters seem to be made in China!

http://www.yr.no/pla...ilin/Changchun/

But not very far from general white out on this pic due to the postive snow cover anomaly shown above Posted Image

a thread so dead ..will it be read...

a question loong and deep

one that keeps me up at night

and stops me from my sleep..

where does the energy come from

for the snow to be so deep

that here in northern ireland

the ice is two miles deep

but here this year

a famine would be

if we couldn't import

from across the sea

and then I saw Nadine

coming up from the South

a storm like no other

a wide open mouth

She stayed for a week

and then two and then three

She sent out some daughters

and they crossed the sea

and energy came from the tropics to we

what if that happens in winter I thought...

then just as December arrives ..

{ without reason }.

they call it the end of the hurricane season

a storm from west Africa

took Nadine's track up the middle

of the Atlantic

and answered my riddle..

She first spun through France

and now on the day

of Immaculate Conception

It's Italy !!!

and on she will travel

and bury the east

in a new coat of white

Magnificent Beast

But even before she'd begun to take form

off the Bahamas a new child was born

she too has moved north to the mid -north Atlantic

and last time I checked she's driving every one frantic

taking over like Nadine but much further north

she's the cold winter lovers target for wrath

but over on Greenland where they say things are melting

the snow that's to come will be unrelenting

So is this I'm asking. a new type of weather.?

or have I just missed it...I was wondering whether

any on board had seen it before

or is it so normal you're crying 'NO MORE'.!!!

absolutely brilliant!!!

It's all so true as well.

Thank you for taking the time and thought to think up and type out such a wonderful poem :) it's brightened up this awful depressing day.

You are a talented chap indeed!
