Suprised there wasnt any thunder with that cell that just passed over. Rain was very intense.

Looks like a constant stream of cells running up the M5 corridor between Bristol and Paignton now, so I can see where the flood risk comes from. Some serious amounts of rain possible in the worst hit locations today I fear.

Are those yesterdays pictures or todays Stuart ??

I think its todays because the BBC are currently reporting serious flooding currently - although I cant be 100% certain...

Couple of rumbles here about half an hour ago after a heavy shower moved north, quiet now though, although more heavy showers seem to be heading this way.

Heavy torrential rain just exploded here now - chucking it down

Using the radar archive it looks to have been raining there since about 07.30 and still more to come

by the looks of it thanks to that convergence zone.

Serious flooding in Jedburgh, lots of reports on twitter. The local river has burst it's banks.

Looks like the showers are in the same places as yesterday so far with a void across and around the Peak District. Showers really kicking off elsewhere. I still haven't left yet... a bit nervous about going to the wrong place after yesterday.

It keeps changing between moderate, progressively heavier showers and strong sunny spells here, sometimes both together. Some close sferics on the radio but can't hear any thunder

yet,

but I think I might soon.

Looking at the NMM model there are still fairly large amounts of Cape around into the early hours, does that mean in some areas storms could go on through the night?

Plenty of time yet to gauge the situation. Fortunately, there shouldn't be too much distance between storms. biggrin.png

Lol, yes i have spent a lot of money on petrol this summer - yesterday was around £35 in total, just to hear a few rumbles. BBC forecast on N24 showed lots of blobs over me this afternoon and even more so just to my north and east. Maybe i wasn't far off when i was thinking somewhere like York.

A very grey morning outside didn't think it'd help but just heard a rumble of thunder already. Things are getting going nicely to the SW by the looks of things on radar.

Shower producing sferics around Marlow south bucks looks good at the minute. Hopefully reach here in an hour or two if it doesn't die off, moving very slowly so a little worried about the heavy rain killing the inflow.

I seem to be in a gap and I have a feeling it will stay that way with stroms going in every direction around me, but I hope im wrong! I can see a fair amount of convection over the Bristol channel though!

RAIN BECOMING VERY INTENSE again here ,hardly any movement of cloud sheet .there was a distant thunder clap about 5 min ago . if this continues to develope and expand which is possible looking at radar and sat pictures over corn and devon we could be talking of seriouse flooding later in favoured spots . the centre of low is also slowing in my opinion and a possible wrap around could develope with some embedded storms mixed in .it also looks increasingly likely that storms will develope off dorset and hampshire and track north and north/east later . presently gone flat calm and feels slightly muggy also pressure dropped in last hour ,rain at the moment just eased off a little ,thunder now reported in east bristol my wife talking to friend in brislington who is scared as got her house hit in severe storms back in 1968 ,cheers

A flash and a rumble. That's the first I've seen/heard for years. Bring it on.
