And as ive seen people say on the model output discussion before, the GFS sometimes underestimates the temps by a few degrees, meaning it could be a bit warmer than those charts show. Im just guessing though. Good times ahead next week MAYBE, and thanks for posting them charts John.

i agree

gfs does sometimes undercook the temperature

no problem doing the charts i am glad you find them useful

just my thoughts again

around 16th-17th onwards the jet should weaken giving us a

shot at an easterly,

this would dry things out and give us some nice warm weather

this wont be hot but pleasant, the only downside will be cloudcover good.gif

but much rather that than atlantic rubbish smile.png

Afternoon All.

I've just looked at the Hi Res model, to see if it's worth me getting out and about tomorrow morning.

It definitely looks like the north of our region is more favoured for storms tomorrow (although northern England is better still) Hi Res model and GFS charts (both from 6:00 run this morning) for 15:00 hours tomorrow shown

Maybe Sunday and Monday will have better chances for more of us in the SE? Again GFS charts shown for both days.

Weather warning for tomorrow seems to cover more areas now, but says Essex although the graphics don't suggest the same?

Just had 5minute honking shower here and now sun is out again!

I'm wondering whether the warning area just clips the far northwest of the county, around Saffron Walden?

Just chucking it down here and no sign of a let up. Looking at the NW video forecast for the week from Michael Fish, it doesn't look like there is much let up for a few days yet either. doh.gif

Yeah saw that, think your right, seems the warnings cover Sunday too?

Is it me but have these warnings become a bit cry wolf? Especially with regards showers, if it was persistent heavy rain I would get it, I know is hard to forecast showers specifically, just feels like they are handed out bit willy nilly at the mo?

Nothing in Ippy but I see there is lightning north of Norwich. Bet it's all cleared by the time I get back off 6pm train. :(

Another nice day here too, high of 22.3c with only two very light showers. Just worked out our average high temperature this week has been 21.5c! Not bad for a period of bad weather drinks.gif

Saw some lovely big towering clouds on way from Ipswich to Norwich whilst on the train......but alas! Ah well, supposed to be some fire in the sky for this region tomorrow. Hmmm, we'll see. :)

PPVE89.gif?31415

south east looks not too bad tomorrow

there is a chance of the odd shower but nothing too heavy

cloud may be an issue .

the further north of london the higher the shower risk

PPVI89.gif?31415

still think this is the best day for the south east for storms

storms will be slow moving and torrential rain where they hit

Rtavn4211.png

Rtavn4811.png

Rtavn5411.png

Rtavn6011.png

cape stays fairly strong even overnight smile.png

and holds right through monday

Rtavn6611.png

Rtavn7211.png

PPVJ89.gif?31415

early monday morning shows a storm potential

PPVK89.gif?31415

still a chance of some thundery rain although not as potent as sunday

PPVM89.gif?31415

tuesday dry am some rain pm

PPVO89.gif?31415

wednesday looks dry in the south east

but chance of some rain in east anglia up to lunchtime

Rtavn11417.png

Rtavn12017.png

wednesday looks dry and fairly warm

Rtavn13817.png

thursday looks warm

Rtavn1381.png

and dry smile.png

Rtavn16817.png

friday looks very warm

Rtavn1681.png

but low pressure over the south east will be heavy rain

slim cape but still a chance here

long way out

Morning all :) Heading back to Norfolkshire today after a pleasant sojourn in the South - I think we were very lucky with the weather, only one sharp shower at the hockey on Tues and a hot day at Greenwich on Mon, the rest of the week has been more dry than wet thankfully. Looks like showers (standard version) for home for the next few days.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
