My favourite weather is warm and thundery setups in summer were you can sit in the garden in warm sun but a thunderstorm is lurking on the horizon

Sorry, that's not what a typical British summer is supposed to be like. Please pick another weather preference.

This is a thread about what types of weather people like, so I don't see anything wrong with people expressing desire to have summers that aren't representative of the UK norm.

After all, given that the UK traditionally experiences a large number of dry but cloudy days and has more frequent frontal rather than convective rainfall, it's hardly as if my version tallies with the expected norm in the UK either!

Well neither is your winter pick of snow on the ground through to the middle of March

I like winter if its the stormy rainy and gales type winter, oh and mild too

Thats what British winter is meant to be like being an Atlantic island

I hate bitterly cold stagnant weather in winter which is as boring as the grey drizzle we have seen so much of here this summer

The worst kind of winter weather IMO. There is absolutely no movement of air at all to dry things out. Therfore fog lingers all day, it remains close to freezing and everywhere is wet and often muddy. There is northing i love more than a good gale in winter, preferably from the SW.

Last winter was gloriously sunny here with plenty of bright, mild and breezy days, the kind of which tempt you outside even on the short days of mid winter. A dry cold continental air stream is also great for bringing some clean air off the continent and pure blue skies.

This!

Cold. Snow on the mountains. Milky sunshine. Mists and fogs slow to clear.

Variety of colour lots of shades and emotion on the canvas

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
