17.5C and probably the peak for the month.

16.5C-17C looks the likely range from here.

Based on the outlook, it looks like we have peaked CET wise and the next few days will see a slow decline. Good bet finishing mark mid 16's, so only just above average.

Today's minimum is 12.0C and maxima were close to 21C, so a drop back to 17.4C is likely tomorrow.

After that, going by the 12z GFS the CET will be around

17.4C to the 23rd (16.7)

17.3C to the 24th (14.8]

17.3C to the 25th (17.3)

17.2C to the 26th (14.8]

17.1C to the 27th (13.9)

17.0C to the 28th (16.2)

17.0C to the 29th (16.5)

17.3C to the 23rd. The decline is occurring a little faster than in BFTV's calculations based on the GFS above. The CET may well finish on mid 16's or even marginally below that after the usual month end downward adjustment of around 0.2 to 0.3C.

Good chance that the remaining 7 days of the month will each deliver a 0.1 degree drop, finishing mark probably 16.5 degrees which would mean a summer very much near average, nothing spectacular but masking some very dissapointingly cool conditions at times, and for the north no proper decent warm spell.. a very poor summer temp wise for the northern half of the country.

17.1C to the 26th

http://www.metoffice...t_mean_est_2012

Yesterday was 15.4C. Minimum today is 11.3C while maxima are in the 19s, so a drop to 17.1C looks likely tomorrow.

After that, the 06z GFS has the CET around

17.1C to the 28th (17.5)

17.1C to the 29th (15.8]

17.0C to the 30th (15.7)

16.9C to the 31st (13.3)

I'd say between 16.5C and 16.8C after corrections.

Ah, cheers for that, changed it now.

I was basing it off the 17.15 in the link and presumed they'd be rounding it up!

Thursday and Friday look cool days with some cool nights which should ensure a finishing mark around the 16.5-16.6 degrees is the final outcome.

A finish of 16.5-16.7c isnt too bad i suppose and would break the run of below average summer months. One these days we will get a summer month where the whole country gets to share in the warmth and not just a very warm month in the SE offset by a cool one in the north west leading to a respectable, but fairly unremarkable CET.

Today's minimum is down as 5.5C, coldest since June 10th. Maxima will lprobably be close to 17C.

Likely to be the coolest mean CET day since mid June,

It was provisionally the lowest August minimum since the 28th August 1974 (which recorded 5.1c) and remarkably, the only night to record a sum in single figures (which may be corrected once other data is included)

Its looking like the provisional finishing point will be 16.7C. If today's maxima is lower than 15.2C it'll be 16.6C.

Ironically it could end up being exactly the same as the 1981-2010 average of 16.4C after adjustments.
