Can anyone explain what is happening here? It doesn't look like a Cb cloud. The only thing I can think of is that there is a narrow layer of cool, dry air between warm, moist air underneath and above the cool, dry air causing a strong storm in such a narrow layer of air..?

Pass search.gif , but it looks impressive. Could it have been a result of forest fires? i.e. clouds inducing lightning from such an event.

A very different climate over there for requiring a storm to initiate but it does look very shallow too for a Cb.

Cheers

Thats insane, and a bit annoying too, annoying because a little wimp of a CB( if it can be classed as a CB) can produce sferics, and here in blighty, especially the north west,a massive torrential shower cant even turn thundery thesedays, whats going on ?

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
