A almost exact repeat of yesterday's weather here - rather cloudy with fleeting sunny intervals and a few spots of rain at lunchtime. Maximum 20.4, minimum 11.2. Wind light NW.

Yesterday: cloudy with bright intervals and a light shower late morning. Maximum 19.4, minimum 13.3. Wind light SW.

John H - a maximum 11.2 must be your coldest July day in a long time?

Started with high strata of cloud, replaced over Quantock area with threatening dark cumulus with rain in distance. Remained dry in Bridgwater and soon became sunny after about 11.00 a.m. Sun remained despite cumulus in distance - and has remained so. Cool evening - too chilly to sit out tonight BUT not for long!!!! dirol.gif

it probably is although I have not looked at my stats so far

and its still b well raining!

Actually it was not the max that did manage to rise to the dizzy heights of 13.7C for a very short time-still the coldest since 3 June

it is the joint coldest July day max at 13.7C since I started in 1997, 2008 also had the same value with 2000 and 2002 having 13.8C each. Contrast that with the lowest, yes lowest, max in 2006 of 22.2C

Have been looking back to see when the last exceptionally cold July day was - Trevor Harley notes that on 28 July 2005 a maximum of only 10.9 was recorded near Durham, otherwise I think you're going back to 1993 perhaps. It'll be interesting to see what the lowest minimum recorded today turns out to be.
