Piedmont Day Oklahoma

This a day to remember again it had a little bit of everything. 5 miles down a road only to find out that bridge was being repaired. Mind you despite Rob seeing the sign the said ROAD CLOSED and drawing it to my attention , we all failed to believe it.

We followed the cell that produced the Piedmont tornado from birth, even then it showed signs of rotation. We kept with that beggar every inch of the way after that. As we chased alongside it was throwing lightning bolts for fun, setting fire to the fields close by. Vanessa at one point phoned 911 because the storm was drawing the flames towards a nearby farm.

This storm looked like it was going to form a tornado on a number of occasions. One town we went through the shops were being emptied and I saw a woman with cape around her, with head in rollers. A hairdressing salon was also kicking out because of the tornado threat.

We avoid the hail today. I believe that on this day we saw two tornadoes. I will try and post both. But first this.

The first possible tornado

Awesome video's there Tom, you can defiantly see the funnel on the first possible tornado. I should really upload some stuff I can never bear to watch it when i first come home as it makes me too homesick lol

If you look closely... say 20 miles the wrong side of the storm.... you may see me.. D'oh!!! Quite happy we didn't punch through given the hail core size though! Not a fan of explaining dents to the car hire people! Our complete lack or data in the entirety of NW Oklahoma just killed us on a couple of days :( Seiling Public library and their free wireless was our second home I think!

The cell that we bust a gut to keep pace with tied to drop a tornado a few times earlier and looked stunning, I have lots of other shots of this cell but for now 'have it!!!'

The rattling noise is a strap on the tractor behind me, I was oblivious to the noise at the time

I still to this day do not know how that thing did not drop here whilst we were all sat in a field North West of Kingfisher!

Rotation was not that strong at this point visually, but it sure tried on a few occasions!

And neither IanM or I were there to make it swallow itselfPosted Image

That woulda seriously stopped it in it's tracks....

I do not believe that people canprevent storms happening . I do believe the weather can stop storms happening.

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
