Rain has set in here... Wish it wasn't this early, as it's going to make the conditions tough for my 5-a-side game tonight! (Which if we win will win us the league) biggrin.png

It's heeeeeere. Why is it that the rain always stays on course and arrives where ever you are....but the storms NEVER do? sad.png

Storms are quite localised here-K-. Also we are in northerly flow now so its quite cool as Im sure you have noticed,Probably why we had Storms yesterday with the cooler air coming down from the North. Although a nice humid Spanish plume gate crashing would wake up the party. It would be nice to get a decent warm to hot spell 10 days would do We would see some action then.

I think once this low has cleared away,We will have a better idea for what's to come, I know some other statements have written off The rest of July and August,But I'm not so sure now. John Pike what are your thoughts...??

Hi, I agree its too early to write of summer just yet. August thro to early Sept is a long way off. One thing is certain, a lot more rain tonight is due. Anyone got rainfall reading for tonight so far?

hi jason

i still think the jet will shift around the 21st for around 10 days

this should start increasing the temperature for us in the south east

see the mean rise around the 21st onwards

also a lot less rain spikes so should be high pressure dominated coming

from the south

i still think we could get some very nice storms from the south towards the end of the month

as for august i think we will see the jet hovering from noth of us to south of us

this will mean a few decent days and a thunderstorm

these are my thoughts at present and i would not write august off at all for the south east at present

fax

PPVE89.gif?31415

low is further south again

more heavy rain

PPVG89.gif?31415

midnight more rain but not as heavy as friday

PPVI89.gif?31415

sunshine and thunderstorms again

PPVK89.gif?31415

i still think this looks dry

proper update tomorrow

PPVM89.gif?31415

ridge of high pressure looks dry but weather fronts seem ominously close again

PPVO89.gif?31415

looks dry and maybe warm clapping.gif

Thanks JP. It is looking like a Thundery 2 days coming up, some active Thunderstorms developing with flash floods, after this rainfall tonight and what we have had through thursday and after the downpours from the days before we could be looking at some serious local floods. High pressure will come eventually, but how long and how hot is the question, it is easy to get a repeat of the very wet weather once again after any spell of dry weather,

MT8_London_ens.png

this chart indicates a spike of higher 850s, 17th-19th July, at the same time period it also shows hardly any rainfall(bottom of chart) this indicates high pressure ridge with warmer upper air, as seen on the chart below,

18th July

no rainfall in the South

hi electric

sorry forgot to mention about 17th to 19th

you are right and hopefully its the start of

a gradual improvment

i can see our weather drastically improving all of a suuden

and remember we are in july (note i said remember)

so when we get an improvement the temperature can rise very quick

all we can hope for is a lot better than we have now

flooding is becoming a huge issue especially for the next 2 days

Any heatwave would be a shock! i think it will feel hotter as we are used to the cooler weather now, especially late evening! although the sunshine is hot when out of the breeze.
