Hello, a long range weather forecaster has released a summary of his July forecast here -

http://twitpic.com/a4q45r/full

Without naming the forecaster (its obvious...but judge the forecast rather than the guy) would it be possible to judge/test/rate the forecast?

8 days in I'd say (anecdotally) that it's not great, as it misses the flooding and rain of the 6th-7th, which was an extreme weather event (in my view).

A bit sensational isn't it - I prefer the Meteo Ciel Jet stream chart for 24.07.2012 showing it migrating to the north of Scotland - Lets hope it is a trend for an improvement and we can salvage the end of the summer - otherwise it is roll on 2013 in hopes for something better.

Not sure how that works, you cannot have severe thunderstorms with a southerly tracking jet-stream.

What 'apocalyptic' thunderstorms??? It's just general everyday meteorological terminology isn't it? whistling.gif

However, if you're a Mayan.........

Two words

Piers Corbyn!!!!

I thought the end of July looked like it was going to settle down personally, just in time for the olympics. The heat wave in the eastern seaboard of the USA isnt looking as strong, suggesting the jet stream may actually move north, like it is supposed to do in summer. GFS away out is also suggesting this... the first time it has for months.
