Moderate to heavy rain that kept waking me from around 4am. A complete soaking on the way to work and I swear the bus shelter advert with a nice looking beach & blue skies in Lanzarote just put two fingers up at me & laughed...

Ye,what a let-down eh,TM? Awoke this morning to intensifying rain and approaching thunder. Half an hour later,no thunder and just regular rain. Bloody sun will be out soon at this rate, yuk.

Very heavy rain here - we've had 23mm (12mm in last hour) since around 4am and no sign of it slowing down.

Roads were flooded and the river right up when I was coming in so dread to think how it'll be in a few hours. Hopefully no proper flooding although its looking that way. This is dangerous weather for sure.

Rain commenced I think about 0530-0600, not sure as it was pouring down looking outside around 0730 yet the rainguage was stuck on 0.6mm. Venturing out into the moderate rain revealed bird dirt as the cuplrit! I THINK I managed to catch most of it on the tipping mechanism so so far 12mm or so, stopped for a while but its started again, mainly slight but there are some brighter echoes around and upwind of me. Lowest temperatre was 15.0C at 0837, on 15.7C now with Td=14.9C as a NE'ly sets in.

Most of the forecasts had the rain to our north and east, giving us occasional light rain, but that's hardly what's happened as the main band of rain has been further west than many predicted. Overcast all day here with persistent moderate rain, occasionally heavy, since around 10am. Current conditions: moderate rain starting to ease, 14.5 deg C, wind light SW. Today's maximum 18.4, last night's minimum 13.8.

I concur with your comments about accuracy. This was the forecast for today and this evening as of this morning:

Today

Very wet across central England, Wales and parts of Northern England, with persistent heavy rain causing localised disruption due to flooding. Mainly fine elsewhere, but scattered heavy showers developing in southern England. Becoming breezy central and northern areas later.

Tonight

Heavy rain spreading from northern England into southern Scotland and, separately, into southwest England. Most other places mainly dry with some clear spells, but occasional lighter rain still possible.

Instead nearly 10 hours of persistent rain, which has only just cleared, more than some of the areas further north, where it was anticipated the brunt of the wet weather would be.
