Noting the forecasts from Westbury and Dorset, it's amazing what about forty miles makes. Sky remained overcast in Bridgwater area and it took some time for the temperature to rise; sun finally arrived at 5.00 p.m., after which it has been a pleasant evening - quite possibly warmer after 6 than during the day. Large area of cumulus refused to move from over my house so sun did not appear despite large areas of blue surrounding. Cloud rose and thinned . But I have had two evenings in a row where I have enjoyed an evening walk in the fields around my village and with the mild nights this week is turning out to feel more summery despite the deluge we had on Tuesday.

Clear intervals last night.

Sunny intervals this morning, rather cloudy pm, a few further sunny intervals. Rather warm light and variable breezes.

A much better day than forecast with none of the murk of recent days though still too much cloud. It did turn sunny through the afternoon with the temperature climbing to 19.9C to give the warmest day of summer so far.

Although no rain was recorded for the first time since 20th June it was not completely dry as there was some very light drizzle.

Cloud returned by 6pm and looking increasingly misty and murky. Could well be several days before we see the sun again rolleyes.gif
