Hey guys, I'm going on holiday to St.Ives down Cornwall for the week from the 9th July. The Met Office updates are encouraging, saying that the SW will see the best of any settled weather, but looking at the GFS, ECM and their own model, it certainly wouldn't see this way.

I'm looking for at least a couple of sunny, warm days. Am I likely to get these?

Well I wouldn't go with out the wet weather gear as we know all to well these long range outlooks from the met office chop and change frequently, currently Accu Weathers forecast covering your holiday does look positive with just 1 day of rain on the 13th other days are partly sunny, but as I said wet weather gear is best to be packed as you never know

I'll take that forecast any day given the synoptics we're being offered at the moment!

Nice one Gav :)

Not so sure of that forecast now looking at the models as they move closer to the time frame, anyone have any thoughts please?

It looks meh, partly to mostly cloudy with slight chance of showers each day but at least there are no indications of nasty weather as such. Not overly warm looking model runs at 12z, but there have been warmer runs previously, perhaps this trend will appear again. On today's 12z runs I would say highs 16-18 C and lows 10-12 C. Wind flow looks mainly NW'ly so south coast might catch some rainshadowing and a few extra minutes of sunshine.

Cheers Roger, at least it's not going to be chucking it down day in day out!

I'm just hoping for some decent sunny spells tbh. The UV index down there is similar to Spain's, so I'd love to see some sunshine!

An encouraging forecast based on the 06Z GFS from XC Weather. Anyone shed some light on how likely this is to be correct please??

Have to say I'd be surprised if it's that settled (sorry!). On the other hand, those temperatures look rather pessimistic.

I was thinking the same thing, but the Azores High is in charge for the South next week, so it wouldn't surprise me? I just wanted a second opinion as I thought I was seeing things when I saw all of those sunny symbols haha.

As for the temperatures, yeah I'd say they are at least 3-4C too low.
