Early sunny spells have now given way to mostly cloudy conditions with a blustery westerly wind.

Overnight low was 9.1c, currently 10.5c.

Dry at present however on 'rain today' there is quite a lot of precipitation over Lancashire heading this way however it does look to be stalling and fragmenting as it reaches the pennines.

I hope it does because I've got some washing to put out!

Further south in Somerset the main rain by-passed us to the north but heavy dark cumulus with some showers have dominated the morning with a little blue in between. Maximum 16C. Now short bursts of sun between cumulus without showers (at least that's something). Blue sky keeps on tantalising in the distance but never amounts to much despite forecast of bright afternoon.

A dry day here but not so in the Peak, I walked Castleton-Mam Tor-Hollings Cross and the long route into Hope beneath the ridge then back to Castleton, drizzle rain then showers, and perhaps one of the muddiest walks I have ever done.

Lots of D of E youngsters out, one lot asking where were they on the map! To be fair they were pretty close to where they thought they were.
