That's three summers in a row of very hot temperatures down there (40C+).

The heat is also extending into eastern Ukraine in a modified form - 34.5C yesterday in Donetsk and 33.4C in Kharkiv, but 25.6C in Kiev and only 17.8C in Lviv. A notable temperature boundary in Eastern Europe.

Here in Athens, Greece, in which hate wave is usual phenomenon, the maximum temperature until now is only 35.3 C, so I am surprised about Russia.

Doesn't surprise me, the CETs for that area were massively above average in the summers of 2010 and 2011 and it seems that 2012 will be no different, at least for June. Didn't some places record like 10C+ above average for one month (I forget which)?!

As they bake in the sunshine with the very hot air imported from the Middle East, we drip with constant Atlantic low pressure systems...

42ºC in Aleksandrov-Gaj is the highest temperature till now in Europe.

We have get only 40ºC till now in the Iberian Peninsula.

I think Eastern Europe is getting now what Western Europe got between 1990-2006, an endless string of well above above average summers.
