Its that time of year again when we start thinking what the coming Spring and Summer have in store for us. The first 20c, 25c and 30c are quite notable milestones to be reached so when (you can guess the location as well) do you think they will occur. Will be fun to see who ends up closest.

20c April 3rd Chevinor, Devon

25c May 16th Lakenheath

30c May 30th Gravesend

20c March 28th

25c May 2nd

30c May 25th

35c July 18th

Looking at the models i wouldnt rule out 20c being reached mid month. The ECM 0z in FI would definately put us in with a chance with 10c uppers threatening our shores.

I agree with some others of their being a possibility of 20*C being reached in March. Then...

25*C - April 15th at 2:05pm

30*C - June 5th at 12:01pm

20C - Early June

25C - End of August

30C - Unlikely

When was the last time 30C wasn't reached anywhere? Even in the poorest summers somewhere seems to scrape 30C.

about 20 years ago I think.. that's true.. even in the awful 2007 we managed 30C. It's usually places in the south east that reach it in poorer summers though as the atlantic has less influence there.

OK, I think it will be:

20C - April 8th (yes, I foresee another beautiful, warm and sunny Easter Sunday in store!)

25C - May 22nd

30C - June 6th

35C - July 2nd (I think that that date will bring us the highest temperatures of the year and a huge outbreak of thunderstorms towards the evening ;) )

Has it ever happened that there has been no 25C in the UK until late August?

Edit: or were you thinking of your own location?

For my area ( Orly Airport near Paris and not Paris as usually 1c above)

20c : 25th March

25c : 27th April

30c : 15th june

35c : Somewhere early July.

Not unusual to see 20c late march here .

Last few yeas we have been used to first 25c in April like 2007 then 2008 a near miss at 24.7c then 2010 and 2011 so 3 in a row????

30c : all june months have seen a 30c plus since 2001 exept 2008.( did not checked if 30c hapenned earlier than june)

35c has been reached last year that is 2011 and in 2009 ,2006 , 2003 and 2002 then near miss in 2010 and 2005 2004 and 2001 ( 1c or less 2001 for a tiny 0.1c!!!!)

So it is not so unusual

Ps Paris Station is a bit warmer than Orly Airport so probably 35c been reached more years than Orly.

I'm convinced that we will see 20c before the end of March in the UK this year. Therefore:

20C: March 22nd

25C: May 3rd

30C: June 9th

The last couple of years have seen our warmest max occur outside of the summer season. In 2010 we saw our highest max in May and in 2011 I think late sept produced our highest max or at least equal highest max of 26 degrees - we might have seen one or two other days with similiar maxes at some point in July.

We haven't managed 30 degrees since July 2006. Summer 2010 never saw us manage 25 degrees. Indeed the last five summers have seen very few days topping 24 degrees - preety poor it has to be said. Mind I'm not a lover of the heat and 24 degrees is a very respectable temp.

We tend to see our first 20 degrees by mid May. Northeasterlies and easterlies in April and May can produce temps in low 20's when we see 'fohn' type effects.

25 degrees normally in an average summer by mid July. 30 degrees is not easily achieved here - our highest max tends to be around 27 or 28 degrees in an average summer.

I'm really surprised as the southeast reached 33c even in the realms of last years awful summer at the end of June. I was thinking the Rest of the country would of had some warmth from this spell?

My predictions are

20c March

25c April

30c June

35c July

Never experienced more intense heat than the 30C in August 2006.

It was lovely.

Hopefully a repeat.

A summer of plenty of storms, and intense heat please. :D
