Struggling with this one.. suspect a preety average month overall, but some notably chilly weather at times and not much in the way of early spring warmth.

Strong heights to our NE can be a very stubborn beast in March and it is often a month when the atlantic remains very sluggish. I'm going to go for 6.8 degrees. Good chance of a decent northerly during the second half of the month.

I'll take a punt that we will have a cold start to the month, and although this may well be offset, by mild weather at other times I will go for a very slightly below average

Recent scrubbing of upper level westerlies coupled with the drop in total angular momentum indicate a shift from the current synoptics. Certainly scope for some incursions from the east but as cold pooling over the continent will be much moderated by now I'll go for 5.9°C.

I have downloaded daily and monthly figures from the Hadley Centre for both daily (1772-date) and monthly (1659-date) CET values.

If also has the 1981-2010 average figures for each month and cumulatively for each day of the month.

This be of interest to a few people.

After a remarkable February I'm thinking March will continue this long warm run and will go for 7.7c.
