Another impressive event here this evening, with snow since 3pm which has gradually turned heavier and left a covering of 2-3cm. This morning just passed as a 7th consecutive MetOffice snow day with around 50-60% coverage so it seems very likely tomorrow will be a 8th.

Overall it was an overcast but dry start to the day before the snow arrived late in the afternoon. It was very cold again with a max of 1.3C, but the cloudcover overnight meant the min temp was just -0.2C.

Currently -0.2C and 95% humidity with light snow still falling.

The freezing rain/sleet/ice pellets did eventually turn into a short spell of light snow this evening before it all cleared away to the south.

Currently overcast and misty with a temp' of -2.2c, a thin layer of fresh snow on top of the old and everything dripping with icicles.

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
