That was a fantastic snowfall for Bristol - started just before dawn and was still snowing by 4pm. Very deep in places, especially as my school was atop a range of hills. Of course it was on the 20th and the snow melted throughout the day on the 21st.

In Tyneside we had a lot of snow and hail showers late on the 17th and on the 18th, which produced significant accumulations inland, and on some of the higher ground, the snow stuck around all day, though near the coast it struggled to settle.

As often happens with frontal events, the 21st had wet snow near the coast that didn't lie due to the winds off the North Sea.

Don't have any memories of this event as I was in central scotland at the time. Very interesting synoptics, a very southerly tracking jet, strong heights to our NW and North - we aren't far from seeing such synoptics next week....

-33 degrees over scandinavia in mid-late March is very cold indeed.

Proof if needs be that March can be every bit as wintry as December - February if you get the right synoptics.
