It's funny how a pleasant springlike day such as today can make you yearn for spring rather than wintry weather.

Knowing that the models are showing nothing wintry helps ones mindset and enables one to enjoy the other weather types afforded to us.

14.2C at Cleadon yesterday, although the 24th February 2011 was a little warmer at 14.6C. Thursday will indeed be interesting if the sun gets out, but today looks set to be cloudy all day.

12.5°C today - not as warm as yesterday, and not as springlike with all the cloud. Did anyone else have very strong winds this morning? I did and was quite surprised, although they've died away now.

1.5mm of rain here today, and I'd guess 50mph gusts this morning as it was quite hard to walk against them.

EDIT: Albemarle reported 40mph, so probably not as much as 50mph here.

Remarkably it's up at 14.1C at Cleadon now- the highest of the day.

13.5°C here, and slowly rising. There was a few patches of clear sky before it went totally dark this evening so I'm confident tomorrow will be quite sunny.

If we do get much sunshine tomorrow it could well rival the 13th February 1998 which got to 16.9C here, and exceeded 17C in some parts of the region. I'll certainly be keeping an eye on tomorrow's temperature!

Stark contrast between G Asby and Appleby today. Just 3.6mm there. Looking on the radar you were just on the edge of heavy rain over the southern half of Cumbria. Nothing notable here, wetter on Monday. Interesting day tomorrow.

Actually, that's not strictly true as the Appleby station hasn't updated since Saturday (I shall have words) but I was told by the station's owner that Appleby had received 2mm of rain yesterday whereas I'd received just short of 30mm. Not a bad difference for 5 miles!
