We got snow in north Norwich - nothing much, just that light stuff that blows around in the wind, but the first snow of 2012 I've seen! wooow. Another billion trillion flakes and I'll be able to make a snow gerbil.

For an event that was supopsed to favour the east why is it all the reports of snow have come from much further west?

Are we expecting convetive activity tomorrow as was originally pormised still?

And the big one - is anyone attempting to make anyhting of this weekend's forecast yet? No weather warnings from the met I notice...

Latest Beeb video forecast highlights the possibility of snowfall crossing the North Sea to affect the E late on Friday. One to keep an eye on for sure.

Pretty interested by the snow risk for Friday, as indicated by the Met FAX Bracknell charts, GFS and the BBC hinted at the potential earlier. Close to that timeframe now, so it will be one to keep a very close eye on...

Currently -3.2C. Hopefully, a few places may be able to get a dusting tonight, though as ever, we'll see.

quite interesting to see the flow off Norway - well worth bookmarking or watching over the next few days as the snow develops crossing the sea (-:

Mesoscale snow fall here we come - 'yellow fingers crossed smiley person'

ps grab the slider on the animation (with your mouse) and move it forward and back once it's loaded.

Radar looking good, showers starting to pep up albeit light showers, nothing at Peterborough yet but hopefully within the next hour if the showers dont fizzle, looking interesting :)

Yep, radar looking good, although typically sod's law is coming into action. The showers seem to be avoiding Norwich at all costs. May change later in the night though.

With regards to snow Friday into the weekend, there is plenty to keep an eye on. GFS 18z finally in agreement (again) with the ECM and UKMO models that the battleground snow event will occur this weekend - the question is, where will the front reach? Or will it stall completely? Fascinating stuff.

GFS 18z also upgrades Friday's snow potential too.

From the Sunday just gone, there were many posts in the forums suggesting "winter's over" etc. Just shows how frequently things change and how difficult but exciting this pattern is to watch.

Will do!

Judging by the prior comments of swirls over kings Lynn, I'd have thought we may see something soon.

However, I think it was last year or the year before, when we last had a largish snow event we missed the majority by 30 miles in any direction. Not that I'm expecting anything major tonight, but a dusting would be nice :)

Time for a big....
