I'm properly excited now - I've found a post on the model thread which suggests we might see that rarest of meteorological phenomena - the snow dumpling!

"Regardless, I would bank that run,95% of the country would be see dumplings of snow."

I have diplomatically left the poster's name out, but it seems that snow dumplings may be nailded on!

Out of intrest, what would be everyone's dream scenario.

Would an incredible battleground scenario do it for you, or is too short for your liking.

Personally, I would prefer to have a Greenie Hi in place. Initially a cool northerly switching to a rather snowy NEly than the perfect easterly. An easterly with -17C uppers and a strong flow bringing incredible heavy snow showers across much of Scotland and the perfect Forth-Clyde Streamer. Some winter sunshine in between showers too, and very cold temperatures would do nicely. Anything between 1ft -2ft would do nicely from the easterly. Following this, a very cold NEly/Nly would do nicely. Some snow flurries each day and record breaking temperatures. To end it, the perfect battleground snowfall.

I would love a massive snowfall but knowing it would melt and not last long would be a little bit disapointing. I prefer the epic evolution of a big freeze, streamers, very cold days, deep snow, lasting for a very time aswell as great winter sunshine.

What would be your dream winter scenario? :)

I would gladly take the 18z for the weekend! this isn't over and done with yet by a long chalk. The cold in most of Europe is just awesome!

Yeah. The potential for helluva snowfall, followed by a big freeze! I would love that excitement, one epic snow event and one epic cold spell with epic snow and cold. Bring on the Scandi Hi and the Greenie Hi that's starting to appear!
