DFW have grounded incoming/outgoing planes (230 departures cancelled) and will check them over before they're used again - wow, that will take some time!!

Edit: Amazing photograph here

You have to hope that kids had been let go due to the weather, or were well sheltered... I guess schools have good shelteres in this area of the States?

This is turning into a major tornado outbreak for Nern Texas, surprised only a SLIGHT risk from SPC with 10% tornado probs.

The footage last night shot from the news helicopter really showed graphically the strength of yesterday's outbreak.

I'm pleased for the folks sat in planes out on the tarmac in Fort Worth that they didn't get hit, as they had no where to go.

Very active Period coming up for the Southern and Central Plains. Looking like Multiple days of Severe Weather (8 on the trot possible) with next Thursday and Saturday looking the best for Stronger Storms and Tornadoes.

Would love to be out there right now, this really does look like a May Pattern right now! :cray: :cray: :cray:

It almost looks from these last couple of years that it would be worth going out earlier.

The spc 4-8 day write up is tantalisingly good.

Today looks more of a non traditional set up with a cold WNW upper flow. SPC have a Mod Risk for hail/gusts in W Ok.

Gfs looks interesting later this week with a good LLJ developing.

Late May Pattern For the Next 2 Weeks.

Chase Heaven in the Panhandles of Texas and Oklahoma, Western Kansas and Texas.

I am seeing the possibilities of 10 Straight Chase Days with another Couple of Moderate Risks later this Week at Least, Saturday looks very Interesting for a Severe Weather Outbreak in the Southern Plains.

:cray::sorry:

Temperatures in western OK being held back currently due to the overnight foggy and overcast conditions. Dew points fair to good with storms not forecast for another 6 hours or so.

Clouds breaking up towards Woodward now as we approach the best heating conditions. Importantly dew points slowly rising as well.

Saturday just looks plain disgusting at the moment as far as tornadic potential. With a couple of events before then, there's a lot that can change but currently, the GFS, ECM and UKM all show a higher end severe threat. With so much happening between now and then though, still plenty of chances for it to back down. I'm away at a wedding that day, Touring Cars at Donington on Sunday and a staff leaving do on Friday so I'll have to sit out the virtual chases this time around but should be plenty of activity on the streams this weekend for those with an internet connection! Wouldn't be surprised to see a few tors on Thursday too although moisture return is more of an issue for a widespread outbreak. Looking into next week, there would be plenty of activity in the southern plains through till about Wednesday too..
