Very active cold frontal passage just now: very heavy rain with 6mm in the past hour and some 13mm so far in total, drop of 2c to 8c in the hour, and the strong, blustery wind has suddenly veered from SSW to NNW.

Still a good couple of hours heavy rain to come, December is turning into a wet month

Wet in Manchester, cooler than yesterday, but still nowhere near cold. Is that a wave developing on the front?

Does seem to be starting to circulate yes. Down to 6c here, still heavy ran, and the wind veered NNE.

Foul is about the only word to describe the weather this morning. Continuous moderate rain, temp of 11C with a SW wind 23mph gusting 36. Should see some improvement when the fronts are through.

Some really heavy rain around - with plenty of flood warnings closing a few roads accross Wales. Gone really cold here too (LL55 - NW Wales), local stations recording 3.6C, I'm pretty sure the rain is quite sleety at the moment.

Must be some flooding through Wales now with this deluge. 19mm since 0900, close to an inch since midnight.

Temperature steady at 6c now, the back edge is approaching.

Well, this is bizarre, We had a bit of rain and a brief heavy bit from the squall line feature, then a rather strong gusty NW wind.

But now according to the radar we are in the middle of the rain band with more to come, yet Dartmoor is blocking it quite a lot so it was mainly light, and now a hole has opened up in the middle of the front and apart from some low level stratocumulus the sky is pure blue above with some sunshine! Meanwhile moderate/heavy rain is still piled across West + Central Devon which was the case with the stuff coming this way earlier, but that turned to sunshine!

Just 1.6mm from the front here.

Over a 5C temp drop so far as it has dropped from 11.9C earlier to 6.8C now.
