That's not particularly true or fair Kiwi - we've invested a huge amount in the servers and have a solid uptime record - even in the busiest times such as yesterday evening there wasn't a problem - it's 730 in the morning now and not exactly as busy as that yet.

One of the servers we use for the forum has some sort of issue, we're rebooting now and it will hopefully clear it. Fortunately because we load balance the forum across more than one server it won't go down whilst we do that.

Edit - that's the reboot completed and everything should now be back to normal.

The last problems were during the snow (non) event on 16 December. Seems that these problems have not been resolved.

There might be a solid uptime record, but just not during significant weather events.

Lol, indeed.

Fwiw, the problem is hopefully fixed. It was unrelated to the problem of a couple of weeks ago, unrelated to traffic levels or weather and by the looks of it was a networking issue between the forum servers and the database.

We'll be monitoring for the remainder of the day to see what happens.

understandably you are annoyed but why be so rude and do you have any idea of just how the system works?

I don't and like you was annoyed this morning but why swear?

How about upgrading your manners?

much better comment than mine-sums things up nicely

Perfect response, thank you.

Cumbria Marra - thanks for the advice, your continued access to the free forums might well be better protected by toning it down a little, I'd hate for the network issue to be resolved and you still not be able to post.

If you don't want to be automatically logged in you need to logout and then when you login don't select the 'log me in automatically' tick box.

I'm not sure what you mean about a double browse box, could you give some more info please.
