Mr D, apols if you have done and posted this previously, but have their been many occasions when anomolouly low Dec CET's have followed anomolously high Nov CET's? Or is there a precident for

cold weather to take longer to develop following very mild Nov's? Cheers.

2009 saw such a shift.

Taking November >8C and December <3C then it has happened 4 times.

I'll firm up my thoughts probably this weekend - but I'm tentatively going to suggest a very near average month. First half probably above average but nothing exceptional on the scale of recent months, with the north seeing more average conditions as a whole, colder conditions during the second half nothing severe but enough to bring values down closer to average - could be a notable north - south split with scotland in with a good chance of seeing a below average month thanks to polar air having more of an influence.

As I said I will give my projection probably this weekend along with my thoughts on winter as a whole.

6.3 please, a mild midmonth period with perhaps a colder end nothing significant though.

I my average days for snowfalls in December is 3/4. I hope that some of those Polar Maritime airstreams bring some here as I would like to start my Snow Diary for the Winter as soon as possible. I think that snow will still be possible for the North as we go through December (perhaps in an increase in the 2nd half) but how are people south of the border feeling about the prospects for snow this December in England.

Increasingly confident of my punt for 4.1C, the first few days of December at least look near average.

5.1C for me so average or slightly above depending on what averages you use.

Taking a punt on this even with that figure after a very warm year, taking a risk some semblance of normality will return, could easily be milder than what i say but unlikely to be much colder, one thing for sure nothing like last december.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
