Beautiful day here. Nice for it to feel like November for once with a max of 9.6C. Took dog for walk this afternoon and the contrast between golden trees and clear blue skies was gorgeous. Temp dropping already now to 8.3.

Summary: A day of clear blue sky and the odd grouping of small decorative cumulus clouds around. The coolish temperatures (currently at 10.5*C) and clear sky, has been giving the weather that sort of feel that reminds you that Winter is getting closer, and closer... And closer!

Appearance - 8/10. May not have been many clouds around, but when their was, it created some interesting patterns across the sky. The sky has had a nice wintry blue look to it as well.

Coolness - 7.1/10. Quite cold this morning, and although the temperatures have been becoming more milder throughout the day, the air still felt fairly cool.

Enjoyability - 8.2/10. Great weather for going out for walks in, and knowing that their could be a frost tonight is rasing the excitement a bit more.

Dryness - 9/10. No rain, no snow, although the ground has been a little damp (probably thanks to how cool/cold it got last night).

its going to be a hard frost here tonight. Already down to 3.1C, I can see it dropping to about -4C at this rate.

Yes I think it's an outside possibility. Temperatures certainly not stable here it's still falling... 2.5C now. With no wind there is a real possibility of -4C. Usually the wind checks it, and it becomes stable but tonight, certainly not much chance of that.

Also we're already 5C below the inversion temperature here (at ceiling), and my experience of inversions is that once below an inversion the temperature just keeps falling away and there's not much chance of stability or a rise in temperature until the sun rises or cloud cover comes over.

A timely reminder we are in November today, up on Bleaklow in the Peak District. Sun or no sun, it was quite nippy up there with a cooling breeze. Last part of the walk after sunset was with insulation. Gritters out on the roads and a lovely wintry sunset added to the whole thing. Lovely.
