If it stalled at 1.6C you'd get a frost due to the cooling on the surfaces!

I dare you to go watch a film & check your weather station when it's done, I bet you it will be at or below zero. biggrin.png

Stop playing with my mind man!

Shap is usually the frost capital of England. Must be cloudy up there atm.

I suspect the westerly element to the wind is what is holding Shap up, the coolest temperatures seem to be just north east of Shap.

Yeah could well be. A breeze off the Irish Sea is enough to send the temperature flying in Winter. Probably a similar case right now.

0.0º in Appleby, 0.4º in Great Asby

*prepares trip to burn soils of Appleby and Great Asby to prevent frost-envy in winter*

It's been snowing on and off there all day, I think?

Whenever we have autumn or spring frost chances, we should have threads like this - I like them quite a bit smile.png

Fully agree, although i do think they have a bigger appeal when we are not seeing weeks of cold.

Optimism is needed, your location is a good bet for frost in this setup so with another 9 hours of cooling i strongly suspect that you can achieve a fall of 1.6C (i actually suspect about -1C for you).

Leeds is annoying, one of the coolest dewpoints in the country but the temperature is still holding up.

Wonder why the temperatures here are so stable.

Unsure, ask GWW. Better yet, his webcam is online now, and will paint a nice picture come the morning should the snow stick around long enough. Something tells me it's too warm for it to stick though! :(

Yes, September and October and April and May for these types of threads. They make me feel better actually - knowing that temperatures are falling, and the atmosphere is ready for winter!

The Shap station was last updated at 20:00, wouldn't be surprised if it was 0C on the next update. :)
