A lot of rain overnight but bright and sunny this morning with a fresh breeze.

A dry night with clear periods. Patchy fog by dawn as areas of low St drifted across the hills but this cleared by 0830 g.m.t and the morning has been dry and breezy with sunny intervals.

Current temp' is 13.4c and the mean wind speed, 24 mph SW.

Very strong winds whipped up here about 40 minutes ago now ahead of very squally band of rain with gusts over 60mph (62.9mph highest) and high mean speeds, went down to the sea front and took some videos. In the process of uplaoding to youtube and will link across.

some very impressive speeds there, must be the coast effect again, just managed one gust of 30mph here, winds mainly 5-15mph, the consistency of the speeds is very noticeable!

Yes it is very exposed here, I wasn't expecting it to be quite this windy today but there was potential for gusts 50-60mph which I mentioned over in the ' Atlantic lows' thread, My face is now raw and stinging from the salt hammering my face!! Exciting tho

After a very wet evening and night (15mm) today dawned cloudy. The back edge frontal cloud gradually cleared by 10.00

leaving a fine day with Cumulus and sunny spells on a fresh Westerly breeze.

Strong winds have actually carried some showers over the Pennines (the lower, northern part in Northumberland, but still) - the showers were moving at about 50mph WNW to ESE and so gave us a good severe rain shower before now petering out. Not many coming now though.
