Well I have been well off the mark for most of the months so far. What I have noticed about the year as a whole is how homogenous our montha have been - with preety stable similiar synoptics from start to finish, with little variation i.e. none of the yo-yoing cold/warm spells i.e. tropical air followed by polar air followed by tropical air etc.., all indicative of preety stable high pressure systems and southwesterlies/westerlies ruling the roost. How will October fare?... really struggling to think how it may pan out. Some of the charts are suggesting a fairly cloked first half, though I've noticed this has changed in the past couple of days or so, also meto monthly forecast has changed to something much more average and unsettled.

I'll go with 11 degrees. A shortlived very warm start, becoming average for all and slightly cooler than average in the north, perhaps some proper polar maritime blasts with heights relatively strong to our NW especially later on in the month. Not expecting a very wet month, in fact the south could see a notably dry month.

Changing my prediction to a bang on average 10.7C. Very dry but as Kold suggest, more toppler than sustained cold.

The early hot spell soon to become a distant memory I think, so I'll go for 10.1c

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
