Tomorrow looks like the best chance of me seeing anything. Cape and Li values are pretty good even though its not the only factor. A trough is meant to pass through tomorrow afternoon to at the same time as the CAPE peaks, so could be good chance?

Such intense PPN moving west to east.. but it will probably die away before delivering much here.

mid-layered clouds racing aloft trying to catch up with the occluded front that's now over the Northern Pennines, just a brief shower here some half an hour ago. And that was it as the front passed, nothing significant and wedged inbetween the 'dry slot' with only clouds to look at now.

Ajpoolshark just called the office to say that he's spotted a funnel between Derby and Matlock in the last hour...

Just read this on your Twitter feed and came on to see if there was any more info! Not too far from me at all.

The skies are very dark here at the moment - I've had to put the lamp on!

Missed that one on the 1730 loop, was watching everything to the West and North. Good spot by aj and given dynamics currently ongoing today I wouldn't be too surprised to hear of yet more. Already been yet another in Ireland aswell as the front was going offshore into the Irish Sea.

Aye up all...Just got home from work...Spotted a funnel a couple of miles NW of Duffield on the A6 between Derby & Matlock around 1700hrs....Quite fortunate as I had deliveries in the area and had been following this cell from Penkridge (it gave a brief torrential downpour in Penkridge just before I left there at 1530 hrs)...Ii looked initially to be a low topped Cu Congestus, so didn't really pay much attention, but as I approached Derby on the A38, it had produced a noticable anvil when visibility allowed for viewing (there was a lot of mid-level crud in the way)...As I got to Duffield I observed visible low level rotation from a underhang of cloud from the base and it spawned a funnel that reached 1/3rd way to the ground...After a couple of mins, viewing became difficult due to the hilly terrain, so I called it a day...(and besides it was getting near dinner time...lol)....No pics I'm afraid as I didn't have my camera with me (that'll teach me!doh.gif )

Belting down with rain here and the sky is a strange dull yellowish colour.

Looking very thundery around the York area.

White dots were over this area, maps shows it nicely.

Constant thunder and lightning with torrential rail earlier.

Nice and sunny now...

Hello 'Leedslad123' blum.gif

I need some storms!

I've been relatively storm starved, but this is the second one this week!

Absolute madness here, the streets are practically flooded, 11.43 mm from that tropical rain in what, 10 - 15 minutes? And a rain rate of 174.2 mm an hour.

And to top it all off, a beautiful rainbow. I'm really being spoiled this week.

Just been searching through the radar imagery for that time period (NW Extra UK radar & V5 radar) and picked out two particular grabs for the correct time period (1710-1720 hours)...tale tell signs of a hook signature in the SE quadrant of that cell?

It's just started chucking it down here, but it shouldn't last too long. There was also a brief heavy shower this morning.

WOW the rain is incredible now.
