Greenland has been the only above average area of ice extent all summer, the rest of the Arctic is near record lows.

A few of our likkle pixels have disappeared in Eastern Russia and there has been quite a pronounced melt in the Arctic, but we do have a fresh few areas of snow in the western Himalayas.

I am a bit early starting the thread, so the real action shouldn't really start until the first week of september, but, hey ho! :D

Here's today's.

Models indicate that we should see falls in eastern Siberia by the 23rd. Models also indicate that this pattern should persist a while with an isotherm below 0C.

Game on baby!

Apart from some ice growth around the Canadian archypelago, everything is pretty stable.

Hi guys!

Not much change today, maybe a slight meltback, as SB says above though, next week is looking good for Russia.

Well hopefully later on this week we'll see the first proper bout of snow over central northern Siberia.

But, as for today, it's a weenie bit of meltback of ice, no fresh snows.

Models backed off slightly, but the 26th onward looks very good.

Starting to look cold up north! Even though the camera has drafted from the north pole, it's still well within the arctic circle. Signs of refreezing and fresh snow me thinks:-)

Definite fresh snow, will have to keep an eye open for refreezing.

Going to be a interesting season coming up. Volcanic eruptions in Iceland, Africa & Chile releasing huge amounts of CO2 combined. La Nina just about finishing off but still showing SST anomalies over in the Pacific, not to mention the potential for yet more Sudden Stratospheric Warming assuming the same trends shown the previous 2 years start earlier on in the season as last. mid-November was when the vectors shifted predominantly Easterly right up until April..here's looking forward to it.

I thought La Nina was expected to strengthen again and become even stronger than last year possibly?
