SCORCHING UK HITS 83F ... AND IT'S GETTING HOTTER

THE scorching weekend weather which tempted thousands on to the beaches yesterday looks set to continue, with 84F (29C) forecast today. While Rome could manage a high of just 72F and Greece 77F on Saturday, Britain basked in temperatures up to 83F.

However, the hot weather brought a series of tragedies as people tried to cool off. On Saturday one man died trying to rescue two children in a dinghy on the West Sussex coast, another was killed swimming in a lake and a third man died in a waterfall.

Forecasters said temperatures were likely to stay well above average for the rest of the week. They could hit 86F next weekend when millions will celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Jonathan Powell, of Vantage Weather Services, said: “It’s going to be a very warm start to the week and it is looking good for the Jubilee.â€

The Met Offi ce said it was 10C above average. Ladbrokes has slashed the odds from 8-1 to 4-1 of 100F at the bank holiday. Around 170,000 sun worshippers flocked to Blackpool beach while thousands crammed into resorts along the south coast.

In Bournemouth, Dorset, roads were packed by early morning yesterday with seafront car parks filled before breakfast.

THE WEATHER'S SPLASH-TASTIC!

There was also relief for those fearing a Diamond Jubilee washout this coming weekend.

Mostly dry conditions were forecast with temperatures expected to be around 25C.

Leon Brown, forecaster with The Weather Channel said: “The worst-case scenario will be a few light showers in the east.â€

But before the nation celebrates the Queen’s 60 years on the throne, Britain will be battered by thunder-storms and flash floods, caused by the heatwave.

Heat’s on at Jubilee weekend

BRITAIN basked in temperatures hotter than Ibiza yesterday — and the sun looks set to stay for the Diamond Jubilee weekend.

Forecasters are predicting temperatures in the mid-20s for next weekend’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations when millions will go to street parties in honour of the Queen and watch a procession of boats down the Thames.

YOUR JUBILEE WILL BE SUNNY MA'AM.. BUT FIRST THE RAIN

BRITAIN is braced for a thundery run-up to the Jubilee weekend...before the sun comes out in time for the celebrations.

The first official bank holiday forecasts are for warm sunshine and clear skies with widespread highs of 64F (18C) from Saturday – and only local showers to dampen the spirit.

Although it will be cooler than the past 10 days, temperatures will still nudge an above‑average 70F in parts. But it will follow a week of spectacular thunderstorms and torrential downpours.

Forecaster Jonathan Powell, of Vantage Weather Services, yesterday warned of a string of heatwaves until the end of August. He said: “This will be a summer of extremes, with more of these spikes of hot weather.â€

BANG GOES HEATWAVE

BRITAIN’S May heatwave ended with a bang as thunderstorms and floods battered parts of the country.

And last night forecasters issued a 10-hour severe weather warning of “torrential downpours and the risk of localised flash floodingâ€.

But the Met Office said most parts will dry up and recover for Diamond Jubilee weekend, with 20C in south-west England.

Cooler for the Jubilee weekend

Cooler weather will move across the whole of the UK as we head towards the Jubilee celebrations this weekend.

But as BBC Weather's Nina Ridge explains, there is still some uncertainty in the forecast

Johnathan Powell, of Vantage Weather? What the hell... He's not even a reliable source. Wasn't he apart of that weather site that was exposed to be completely false.

Yes he was part of Positive weather solutions which used fake names for the weather forecasters and pictures, he was typing the reports out all the time just under different names

The Irish Met Office (no 1970's period jokes now please Posted Image as I realise it sounds like the beginning of a joke from Jim Davidson) released their 30 year climate averages etc. Obviously well worth a look as an indication for the whole BI. It astounds me why Piers Corbyn, James Madden and Jonathan Powell seem to get the media coverage like they do. Would say that it's incoherent why that seems to be the case.

Can i give them my forecast!

Surely posting bbc weather forecasts and stories doesn't count Gavin, you may as well post Netweather front page articles in here whilst you are at it.

One thing that's largely missing in the media just now, is the usual (tabloids) hagiographical pieces extolling the wisdom of Piers Corbyn?
