Colder than Antarctica: UK braced for MORE snow, 50mph gales and Xmas downpours

THE UK will shiver in temperatures colder than Antarctica for most of the month as Brits prepare themselves for a chilly Christmas.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/481142/Antarctica-UK-snow-gales-Christmas-weather-rain

Unbelievable.

And the best bit.

A photo subtitled "People walk through the snow in Scotland".

Really, do they do that in Scotland, AND it was a single person with a dog, so maybe the Scots dont walk in the snow..

'Colder than Antarctica' ..quite a bit of journalistic license there.

Warm weather creates Alpine resort snow shortage

High temperatures in the European Alps have left some resorts lacking in snow. Some resorts in Austria and Switzerland have been left almost completely bare.

What’s been happening to our weather?

Quote

December 2015 will go down in meteorological history as one of the wettest – and warmest – on record. It will also be remembered for the devastating floods in Cumbria, Lancashire, Yorkshire and Scotland. The extensive flooding of homes and businesses, loss of electrical power, major damage to roads and bridges, and disruption to the rail network have caused great misery and incurred huge losses.

In this blog our Chief Scientist, Professor Dame Julia Slingo, discusses what factors may have influenced the record breaking weather we have seen in recent weeks.

Find it hilarious that they've taken to copying and pasting NW'er charts to try and make their stories more credible. Especially as by the title writers maths he's not intelligent enough to understand them.

Would never normally stoop to posting a Daily Mail story but seeing as though I'm "quoted" (albeit fairly poorly, I now work for Med Desk apparently) I'll make an exception...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3390127/Dozens-homes-evacuated-river-bursts-banks-threatens-inundate-city-centre-flood-hit-areas-prepare-misery.html

I was also quizzed on the "worst winter ever" stories, to which I said in the politest and most scientific possible terms it's "bulls**t".
